£30k a year to produce magazine
A SURREY Mirror investigation has this week revealed how much you are paying for your council to keep you informed.
The Tandridge magazine, produced by the district council, is published three times a year but costs almost £30,000.
Details about the true costs behind the 28-page magazine, distributed to 39,000 homes, were revealed by a Surrey Mirror Freedom of Information request.
Eric Pickles, the Local Government secretary, stated earlier this summer that he wanted to axe "the weekly town hall Pravdas" to ensure a healthy independent press.
Producing the magazine is part of the communications manager's job, while the design and print is carried out by external companies.
The amount spent on producing and distributing the Tandridge Magazine is approximately £28,650 for a 28-page magazine published three times a year and sent to all residents and businesses. This includes design, print, photography and delivery.
