Adams: We must get back to doing the basic things right
Surrey cricket manager Chris Adams has told his players to pick themselves up and get back to doing the basics right after a nightmare final week of the Twenty20 Cup.
The Brown Caps were thrashed in their final four group games and eliminated from the competition after losses to Essex, Sussex and twice to Kent.

However, Adams has urged his team to get back to the form they were showing in the four day game only weeks ago as they prepared to face Middlesex at Lords which was due to start on Tuesday.
He said: "It was a beast of a week but we are now back to playing four day cricket which is a good thing.
"It is a competition we have done ok in and are second going into this stage of the Championship and if it hadn't been for the weather I think we'd be clear at the top now."
After an indifferent start to life in division two Surrey's form improved, they are unbeaten in four matches and recorded their first win for almost two years when they beat Northamptonshire.
But the past week has exposed frailties in the squad that haunted the Surrey side in the 2008 season.
"What we saw last week wasn't good enough and we know that," added Adams.
"We know why it wasn't good enough and that's why we analyse our performance to make sure we don't make the same mistakes next year."
And in the short term Adams is desperate to make sure the poor results in the Twenty20 games do not start affecting the four day form.
"It is really important that we get back into the right mind-set and are able to display the skill and patience needed to be a success. All the practice we've done this week has been geared up to that.
"In four day cricket you just have to take it one hour at a time."
The Brown Caps squad is now looking much thinner with Ryan Harris and Grant Elliot both returning to their national set-up but Adams says he is confident the young players have enough talent to replace them.
Both Stuart Walters and Simon King were included in the 13 man squad for the game having performed well for the second XI and in the Surrey Championship.
Adams said: "We can see the talent coming through and if they get their chance it will be fantastic. But we're not doing it for the sake of it and we'll be picking a team we believe is capable of winning at Lords."
Chris Adams said Surrey were still hopeful of signing Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh.
The Brown Caps have been heavily linked with the 28-year-old, who has taken more than 330 test wickets.
Adams said: "We are still hopeful a certain overseas player does come over and stat playing for us.
"But we are confident whatever happens our squad is strong enough."
