Sandhurst Town 2

Banstead Athletic 1

SANDHURST were unbeaten going into this match against Athletic who were hoping for a good performance after getting three points in their previous game.

For the first 20 minutes they were the better side keeping Sandhurst's keeper busy.

When Sandhurst did venture into the Banstead half, they caused the A's a huge number of problems.

Banstead still seem to have a problem winning the second ball, and commanding their 18 yard box.

They found themselves a goal down through a Simmonds strike, but to their credit came straight back, Jordan Ellis equalising within two minutes after a great cross from Leon Wallace.

Again scrappy passing and possession caused Banstead problems and Sandhurst's keeper was shown a straight red card, after a late tackle by Chris Kennedy.

The referee had already blown for the foul but the keeper over stepped the mark putting his side down to 10 men.

They did seem to start playing better and looked the stronger side and Banstead did enjoy some possession and were looking good for at least a point.

However, a long searching ball into Banstead's half late into the game resulted in the A's John Kennedy making a poor pass to Sims and Mepham nipped in to score the winner on 87 minutes.

It was a cruel stroke of luck when it looked like Banstead would come away with at least a point for their endeavours.
