Thali – Sri Lankan 'Tapas'
The Sri Lankan typical way of eating at home is using a thali plate which holds four curries, a portion of rice and one fried dish. The curries are served in little portions like "tapas" to give a deliciously varied and healthy balanced meal.
At Ceylon Tavern, our Thali consists of two non-veg curries, two vegetarian curries, salad or sambol or fried dish, served with rice and veechu rotti. This is a must try dish to truly enjoy Sri Lankan cuisine to the full.

Street food
On every Sri Lankan street corner you will hear the sounds of kotthu dishes being freshly prepared. Kotthu dishes are essentially rotti or string hoppers that are shredded and cooked on a large flat griddle with a selection of meats, seafood, vegetables, eggs and spices. These dishes are a Sri Lankan speciality.
