Awesome Roy sends Reigate Priory into finals day
Jason Roy blasted Reigate Priory into the last four of the National Twenty20 Cup with an astonishing hundred at Park Lane.
The talented 19-year-old batsman hit a stunning 138 not out, off just 60 balls, as the Llamas beat Henley by eight wickets in a thrilling regional final.
After the game the Surrey youngster dedicated his innings to his team-mates and family who were among the 600 spectators packed into the club's ground last Sunday.
He said: "It was great that my family were watching and hen I got to a hundred I was thinking of them."
The game was the last in Priory colours for skipper Ian Hewett, who is set to return to Australia this week.
He said: "I've had a wonderful three years at this club and today was a wonderful way to end my time here.
"Jason's innings was just astonishing and I know it means a lot to the team that so many people turned out to watch today."
Losing captain Bjorn Mordt paid tribute to the way Priroy played and said his team hoped they went on to win the competition in the finals day held at Derbyshire County Cricket Club on Monday, September 28.
"They were better than us today and we hold no grudges. Today was a fantastic advert for club cricket and I hope the large crowd who turned up got plenty of entertainment."
