Blindley Heath Country Show cancelled halfway through after bad weather
THE highly anticipated Blindley Heath Country Show was cancelled halfway through at the weekend due to wet weather conditions.
Hundreds of people were turned away at the gate on Bank Holiday Monday when organisers decided that the Osney Lodge Farm site was not safe enough to carry on with the show.
They had attempted to keep the show going the day before, with four-wheel-drive vehicles on hand to assist people in normal cars, but the weather proved to be too much and the second day of the show was called off.
Graham Page, owner of Osney Lodge Farm, said everyone was extremely disappointed to have to cancel the show, but that they were already gearing up for next year.

Speaking on Monday he said: "We had four-wheel-drive vehicles and tractors on hand just in case we could do the show today, but we just couldn't do it.
"We've had to turn away hundreds of people but everyone's been really nice about it. There are other shows planned for later in the year and everyone has said they will be coming back for those."
Dr Debbie Clarke, 38, who had travelled from Purley to attend the show, said: "It is just one of those things. It's a real shame for the farmers but we'll be coming back next year."
