POLICE have released CCTV images after a man was "viciously" punched in the face and had glasses smashed round his head.

The incident happened in the Priory pub, in Bell Street, Reigate, at around 10:15pm on Friday April 17 when a 21-year-old was standing at the rear of the pub.

Three men approached him and one of them asked the victim for a cigarette.

He declined and all three men then punched him to the ground and smashed several glasses over his head as he lay on the floor.

They then ran through the front door of the pub and headed towards Priory Park.

The victim was left with serious cuts and bruising to the left of his face and mouth and a three-millimetre cut in his ear.

Detective constable David Sprague said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack which left the victim with serious injuries.

"It was a busy Friday night in Reigate and I know there were lots of people around. It is vital anyone who witnessed this assault, or who thinks they saw the suspects that night, comes forward and speaks to a member of my team."

The first suspect is described as a white man, in his early 20s, of medium build, clean shaven and with short brown hair. He was wearing a white, zip-fronted jacket with light jeans and white trainers.

The second man was also white and in his late 20s. He was heavily built, clean-shaven with shaved, light-brown receding hair. He was wearing a white collard shirt.

The third suspect is white, in his early to mid 20s, of medium build, clean shaved with fair hair. He was wearing a white polo shirt with a light coloured jumper on his shoulders and light trousers.

Detective Sprague said: "These CCTV images show very clearly the people we would like to speak with in connection with the assault and I am confident someone will recognise the suspects and be able to provide me with the name I need so those responsible can be brought to justice.

"A young man was viciously assaulted during this incident and violence of any form will not be tolerated by Surrey Police."
