Old Tiffinians 107

Caterham 108-4

Caterham continued their winning start to the season with a crushing victory over a poorly organised Old Tiffinians side.

Despite getting off to a strong start with the flamboyant Haroon Ghouri (25) and the patient Jameel Khan (29) the rest of the team did not show much cricketing prowess.

As soon as Robert March (1-18) had removed the dangerous Ghouri, Caterham were in total control of the match.

Turning to the untested spin duo of Charlie Sheen and Ian Orrick, proved to be another masterstroke by the skipper Stephen Grace. Both bowled with guile, pace and on a consistent length and too often the Old Tiffinian's batsmens impatience added up to plenty of wickets.

Sheen claimed his best figures for the club with 4-36 from 11 overs whilst Orrick backed up a great game in the cup on Monday with figures of 4-31 from 13.1 overs.

After tea, Caterham looked to get amongst the runs quickly and their in form opening partnership again set a solid foundation. Daryll Wolverson (18) and Paul Eversfield (32) dispatched anything that wasn't a good ball. Sheen (23) batting at three, clubbed four boundaries in one over after being dropped.

Despite the quick Ghorui's best efforts (3-11) it was too little too late as Reavell (12 no) and Congdon (8 no) saw Caterham home.

Skipper Grace was particularly pleased to record such a comprehensive victory and gain revenge over a team who had put Caterham to the sword in 2008.
