Fuller's League 2nd XI Division One

Churt 239-5

Caterham 154

CATERHAM'S second XI were unable to emulate the form of their first team, succumbing to a fairly comprehensive defeat at Churt.

Batting first, Churt punished anything not of a good length and although there were no huge scores, their batsmen accumulated runs at a steady pace.

Despite bowling beautifully, only conceding 20 runs in his 10 overs, Weddell was unable to nick any wickets.

That was left to the canny Pollard who also bowled like a trusty shirehorse to pick up 3-91 from 17 overs.

Patel and Varley also picked a wicket up each.

In reply, Caterham lost early wickets and were always on the back foot. Despite a brisk 22 from Dinmore and a cagey 35 from Varley too many batsmen made starts but did not cash in.

Never up with the run rate, Caterham eventually lost the game in the 41st over, 85 runs behind.
