Classical girl band All Angels at Epsom Playhouse
Last year classical boy band Blake made hearts and ears swoon at Epsom Playhouse – now it's the turn of the classical girls.
With their four-part harmonies around classical, opera and pop tunes, All Angels have earned their place in the classical crossover market since signing a five album deal with Decca in 2006.
The girls – Laura Wright, Daisy Chute, Melanie Nakhla and Charlotte Richie – sold half a million copies of their first two albums, earning them platinum disc status, appearances at the Classical Brits and accolades from Sir Paul McCartney.
They have starred with Blake on BBC Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night and Songs of Praise with Aled Jones and recently joined 22 other classical music stars to record The Prayer in aid of the Haiti appeal.
This year the quartet released their new album, Fly Away, for which they spread their wings to explore folk songs, musicals, modern classics and spirituals. The material is linked by its American origins.
Laura says: "A lot of my friends don't listen to classical music, but that's what we're trying to do – introduce it to younger people and show that it's not geeky or sad to listen to classical music."
The girls will be joined on tour by a special guest – 21-year-old classical singer Camilla Kerslake who was the first signing to Take That's Gary Barlow's Future Records label. Her debut album is out now.
All Angels are at Epsom Playhouse on Thursday, April 8 at 8pm. For tickets, priced £26.50 (Pass Card members £24.50), call 01372 742555/742227 or log on to www.epsomplayhouse.co.uk.
