Cooke sister claim gold
LEATHERHEAD'S two Cookes brought home the gold at the Windsor Level Two Open meet in Maidenhead at the weekend.
Nicky Cooke, 14, scooped an impressive four gold medals for the 100m butterfly (1.12.82), the 200m freestyle (2.12.87), the 50m freestyle (29.24) and the 100m freestyle (1.03.09).
Her sister, 16-year-old Becky, collected gold in the 50m freestyle (28.82), as well as a silver for the 100m backstroke (1.11.38) and the 100m freestyle (1.02.04) and bronze for the 200m freestyle.
Breaststroker Chris Green, 12, won gold for the 100m breaststroke (1.17.72), followed by a silver for the 200m breaststroke (2.50.80).
Open water swimmer Lauren Parsons, 16, took gold for the 400m freestyle (4.38.53), silver for the 200m freestyle (2.14.21) and bronze for the 100m butterfly.
There were also great silver medal performances by 11-year-old James Simms in the 100m breaststroke (1.31.94) and 100m freestyle (1.11.13); 12-year-old Lucy Bean for the 200m breaststroke (3.01.55), 14-year-old David Brazil (100m backstroke, 1.04.52) and 14-year-old Tony Graham (200m breaststroke, 2.51.83).
Bronze medallists were 10-year-old Ben Staig (200m backstroke), 12-year-old Rachel Dunne (200m butterfly), 12-year-old Gabby Orlich (100m freestyle), 14-year-old Josh McDonough (200m butterfly), 15-year-old Iona Doig (400m individual medley) and 16-year-old Tom Baxter (100m breaststroke).
