Coulsdon United have had Haniff after player's red card
Combined Counties League Division One
Staines Lammas 2
Coulsdon United 0
Basement side Coulsdon did not embarrass themselves with only a two goal deficit away to title chasers Staines Lammas.
Having a man dismissed however, scuppered any chance of a comeback.
Jason Haniff was given his marching orders after confronting referee Graeme Train for his second yellow, and has been handed a life ban from Surrey FA which he can appeal against.
Coulsdon director of football Graeme Cupit said: "Coulsdon would like to express our apologies to Graeme and to the league."
Due to family commitments and injury, Coulsdon had no substitutes, and adopted a 5-4-1 shape to frustrate Staines.
But in the second minute keeper Lewis Farquharson dropped a cross straight to striker Baxter's feet. He prodded home.
It remained fairly even for the next 20 minutes although Farquharson made amends by tipping over a powerful shot.
United were undone on 25 minutes. Baxter found himself unmarked on the penalty spot and didn't need a second invitation to slot home the second. Minutes later Haniff was sent off. Rhod Davis switched to right wing in a 4-4-1 shape.
With yet another centre back pairing of Paul Dance and Shane Franklin giving a solid base, and Chris Dance, drafted in at late notice, performing excellently at left-back, United worked very hard.
Sammy Dieng fired narrowly wide and Coulsdon had a cross shot well saved.
