South Park 2 Chobham 0

South Park defeated a Chobham side that set their stall out from the first whistle to spoil the game and break up play as much as possible.

Happy to concede free kicks in the centre of the pitch the Chobham skipper was lucky not to enter the referee's notebook as he was the chief offender. These tactics upset Park's style of play as they struggled to mount any pressure on the Chobham goal.

It was not until the 30th minute that either keeper was forced into making a save. Park's best move of the half came when keeper James Polley released Matt Smith on the left wing whose beat a couple of defenders before his effort was blocked by the keeper. From the resulting corner the ball dropped to Smith on the edge of the box but he shot wide.

Chobham started the second half brighter and were the first to threaten to break the deadlock but they were denied by Polley.

The deadlock was broken on 50 minutes when Kieran Lavery received the ball on the right wing, he beat the full-back and his driven cross was met by Smith to blast home from six yards to give Park the lead.

Park should have increased the lead minutes later after some good work from Mottram and Burgess. Lavery's effort was well saved by the Chobham keeper.

On the hour mark Burgess broke in to the box and looked to have been brought down however a corner was given. Park were now becoming more and more dominant however they could not get the second goal they needed which would ensure victory.

Mottram finally increased Park's advantage on 71 minutes when he rounded the keeper to score from eight yards.

Chobham rarely threatened after this but when they did press forward the back five of Polley, Mullard, Wilson, Perkins and Sinclair held firm.

Park dug in and ground out a result to follow up last week's impressive victory at Hartley Wintney. Park are at home to league new boys Eversley on Saturday.

South Park: Polley, Mullard, Sinclair, Perkins, Wilson, Whiting-Balcombe, Mottram, Smith, Lavery, Burgess, Stone. Subs: Parker, Johnson, Avery.
