Dorking sign defender Argent
DORKING manager Dave Argent has signed a new left-sided midfielder.
Laurence Buckman, a former Charlton Athletic player, has signed for the Chicks and will go straight into the squad for the Boxing Day game with Bookham.
Though Argent is pessimistic that the match will actually go ahead, he said: "The weather is horrific, it's played havoc with everything and I can't see any football being played."
The Chicks boss has been in charge for two games, both of which have ended in defeat, and has only taken charge of one training session because of the weather.
If more are called off, league games will be more like training sessions for his squad, which he says is taking shape.
"Fixture build-up might not be a bad thing. We can't train so we can use games as training sessions.
"Laurence [Buckman] has come in, I've got another centre forward on board as well, and I'm still looking for another goalscorer and one more player to give me a really good squad.
"That will give me 18 players and that's the size I'm looking for, you don't want any more than that and that will probably be the strongest side they have had down here for years."
If there are no games until the New Year, Argent will try to get the players in for at least one training session, while trying to keep an eye on what they eat and how fit they are ready to "go again in the New Year".
