Dorkinians continue promotion push
DORKINIANS produced a spectacular performance to gain victory over the Amatuer Combination League leaders to enhance their own promotion push.
They could not have wished for a better start, taking the lead after only two and a half minutes when Leroy Hyatt escaped down the left and slipped the ball to Connor Mottram who drove inside the left post.
A second goal almost followed in the 16th minute when a corner from Matt Morley was met by Matt Evans' bullet header which was headed off the goal line.
Twelve minutes later however and Dorkinians did notch a second when the industrious Morley set up Hyatt to drive into the net from the edge of the box.
Morley was again in action seven minutes later when he set up Tom Neville to score Dorkinians' third.
As the second half started, a reorganised Josephs side ensured the first half dominance was not to continue and within 12 minutes the deficit was reduced.
With 15 minutes remaining the home side realised they had a fight on their hands when the visitors reduced the lead to a one goal.
The Dorkinians defence never faltered as their back four and Gavin Morrison in goal withstood all the efforts Josephs could muster. The hosts continued to cause problems to the visiting defence with Lee Andrew Jepson and Hyatt's marauds down the wing, and with a minute remaining, Dorkinians sealed victory.
A fine move out of defence involving Jepson, substitute Tom Chisman and Toby Allenoski gave Hyatt the opportunity to net the winner.
On Saturday Dorkinians have another crucial league fixture away to high-flying Shene Old Grammarians.
AFTER beating Meads B in the previous round of the League Cup, the Dorkinians went one better in beating their A side at Chiswick. The Dorkinians suffered an early setback, but fought back to equalise when James Bray set up Jim Drennan.
The visitors then went ahead for the first time through a 35-yard drive from Darren Bond.
Early in the second half, Meads equalised and the game developed into an absorbing contest until 14 minutes from the end when Drennan and Keith Irvine combined to give Alan Parker the chance to score the winner for the visiting side and secure a place in the quarter finals.
