DORKINIANS returned to winning ways with a well merited victory at Imber Court.

Ben Simkins and Ian Jameson were given their debuts for the side and both produced first rate performances as the visitors started creating chances early on.

Shaun Patterson drove a fine Matt Morley cross against the crossbar with 11 minutes on the clock before Chris Thurgood's effort was brilliantly saved by the keeper.

Morley's well placed corner kicks were a feature of the afternoon and it was from one of these that a header from Patterson was tipped over the bar.

On the half hour, however, a free kick from Morley way out on the right was volleyed in from the edge of the box by Thurgood to give Dorkinians a deserved lead.

The second half opened with Chertsey making a concerted effort to reduce their arrears, but keeper James Whitmarsh proved equal to all their endeavours before his side scored a second goal.

Simkins brought Jameson into play down the left and as he advanced into the area he was brought down.

The referee had no choice but to point to the spot and Tom Neville duly converted with aplomb.

An own goal 12 minutes from time rounded things off.

Dorkinians face a severe test this Saturday when they entertain Southern Amateur League side Nottsborough in the second round of the AFA Surrey/Kent Senior Cup. Kick off is at 1.45pm.
