Easygoing band on the road to bigger things
Who are you, where are you from and who does what?
We are Fret 14, an indie/rock band and we all go to St Bede's School in Reigate. The band consists of four lads – Jordan Bunyan, 16, on lead guitar and backing vocals, Joe Armstrong, 15, on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Dan Girdler, 15, on bass and backing vocals and Toby Scobell, 15, on drums.
What kind of musical sounds emanate from you?
We give off an original sound from our own material – a kind of mixture of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Arctic Monkeys. When we do covers, we tend to play indie rock music such as Franz Ferdinand or the Fratellis.

In the big scheme of things, where do you fit in?
We're an easygoing local band who hope to achieve bigger things as we progress. At the moment we are gigging as much as possible and we are really enjoying playing in various competitions, venues and band nights. We also enjoy playing for private events such as birthdays and engagement parties.
What have you been up to recently?
Recently we have been playing for birthdays, especially 16th birthdays, and we have another couple lined up in the near future. Not long ago, we played at an engagement party at Redhill pub, The Marquis of Granby. We won Battle of The Bands at The Arc in Caterham in September last year and we have proceeded into the regional finals of Live and Unsigned, which is open to all age groups and genres of music.
Where can we see you play live soon?
Our next public gig will be at the Live & Unsigned regional finals at Towngate Theatre, Basildon, Essex, on Saturday, March 17, so we would welcome Surrey fans who want to come up and show their support. Log on to www.liveandunsigned.uk.com for tickets and to find out more.
And where can we get hold of your music?
We do not have our own material recorded yet but we won some studio time in another competition so are arranging to take that up soon.
Anything else we should know about you?
We are four guys who love our music and are very keen to share it. We very much enjoy playing together as a band and it helps that we are all best mates and get along really well. We hope that we can get as much support as possible and we are willing to put every effort into making the band as successful as we can.
