Epsom beat landlords Banstead
Combined Counties League Premier
Epsom & Ewell 2
Banstead Athletic 0
TWO goals in the second half gave Epsom victory against their landlords Epsom.
On a frosty evening two teams put on a pretty good show.
Banstead started well again and were not overawed by their opponents.
They did manage to get down both flanks, but the end product was missing.
Epsom & Ewell showed a good turn of speed and had two cracking shots that were not too far away.
It was a good contest on a testing pitch, with a few tackles going in which were rewarded with yellow cards.
But the match was not dirty, just competitive as landlord faced tenant.
It was an even contest up to half-time. The second half was different, with Banstead slow to react virtually from the restart.
Epsom nearly snatched the lead, but shot wide.
The A's Shane Sinclair made a great run down the right and put in a good cross, but Sol Patterson Bohner shot wide.
On 64 minutes Epsom scored. There was a mix-up in Banstead's defence and Matt Smith found the net.
Within 10 minutes Epsom were 2-0 up. There was a moment of indecision by Paul Brady. His headed clearance, while out of his area, went straight to Matt Burns and he slotted it past him.
Banstead did try to come back and were unlucky not to score at least one.
