Food and drink lead Surrey pair to New Year Honours list
Food and drink have led two Surrey residents to recognition in the New Year Honours list.
Enam Ali, from Kingswood, has been awarded an OBE for services to the Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant industry.
And Michael Hardman, from Reigate, has received the same honour for services to the Campaign for Real Ale and to the brewing industry.
Other Surrey residents honoured include Catherine Anne Townsend Storrs Cullis, of Dorking, awarded an OBE for services to the conservation of ecclesiastical heritage.
Alan Cottle, of Godstone, receives an MBE for services to children and young people with special needs in Surrey.
Jean Combes, from Ashtead, receives an OBE or services to phenology.

“CONFUSED BANSTEAD, When the story first appeared on 31st Dec, there were two spelling errors. One was Kingswood, the other was Ashtead. Both had spelling errors. But of course they were then corrected, but left my comments which made you think I had made the mistake. PS, I was very sober!”

“Does the Surrey Mirror not have spellchecker? Where is Knigswood? A proud moment reporting a local resident getting an OBE, & the local paper cannot even print his correct home area, shame.”
