A late goal gave nine-man Horley all three points against the team directly above them in the table.

Captain Danny Guscott got the winner in the 85th minute, despite Horley finishing the game without Adam Pullen and Darren Tidey.

Horley manager Ali Rennie said that while he was pleased with the result, the performance left a lot to be desired.

"We didn't play great in the first half and were pleased to go in a goal ahead. We did a bit better in the second half; our young keeper Delvin did particularly well," he said.

"I was happy to get the three points, but it wasn't the best performance."

On Saturday Horley face 19th in the league Raynes Park Vale and Rennie is hoping for another three points.

"We've played them twice already this season; we beat them in the cup and drew with them away in the league, so I'm hoping we can get three points at home on Saturday," he said.

"By Saturday we should have a full strength squad, depending if Danny Guscott sits out his suspension on Tuesday or not."

Egham had Horley pinned back in their own half for much of the opening 20 minutes, however as the half progressed Horley started to come into the game.

On 25 minutes a long pass from skipper Danny Guscott found Michael Death and he held off his marker to rifle his shot into the bottom corner from 12 yards.

On 35 minutes a lob from Egham's McCarthy was brilliantly turned away by Delvin in the Horley goal. Minutes later a great pass from Ben Herdman should have been put away by Death but a poor first touch allowed Pearce in the Egham goal to make the block.

The second half began fairly evenly with neither side creating any clear cut chances. Early in the second half Horley replaced John Eldred who had been suffering with flu with Mick Norris

Manager Rennie decided to change thing around by bringing on Tidey and Luke Ragetti for Nathan Jupp and Michael Death.

Tidey and Andrews ended up in a heap, as they were getting to their feet the referee sent both players off to the surprise of everyone involved.

On 70 minutes Foulser made a good run into the Horley penalty area, Horley skipper Danny Guscott came across and made a great challenge. But as the Egham players appealed for the corner, the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Graves struck the penalty hard and low to Delvin's right, the young keeper got down quickly to make a great save. However the referee deemed that encroachment had taken place and ordered a re-take. This time Graves crashed the ball in off the underside of the bar to bring the scores level.

The game looked like heading for a draw until on 85 minutes Horley were awarded a free-kick about 40 yards from goal near the touchline. Ragetti delivered a brilliant ball to the back post where Guscott smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

With minutes to go, Horley were reduced to nine men when Pullen received a second yellow.

Horley: Delvin, Mills, Medhurst, Bryant, Guscott, Eldred (Norris), Smith, Herdman, Jupp (Ragetti), Death (Tidey), Pullen.
