Daryl Hattingh hit a brilliant, chanceless hundred to give Chipstead their second consecutive league win of the season.
Hattingh (113no) had been controversially relieved of the keeping duties this season so he can concentrate on his batting, a brave decision that already looks to have paid off.
With rain clouds hovering, Chipstead were invited to bat in the gloom surrounding the Dorking ground.
And they started well, captain Steve Hirst (31), lucky to survive an early lbw shout, and former Bury man Nick Woods (27) put on 68 for the first wicket.
But wickets started to fall – Woods first out to a harsh lbw decision, quickly followed by Hirst popping a catch to cover off the lively bowling of Lewis Davies - and the momentum switched to Dorking.
Chadwick (2-18) bowled his drifting seamers with nagging accuracy and helped reduce Chips to 141-6, despite a positive cameo from Alan Clark (16).
Hattingh had showed great restraint up to this point, but now needed to cut loose so Chipstead could post a decent score.
Richard Brewster (22no) provided the perfect foil as Hattingh began peppering the cottages along Pixham Lane with four sixes and nine fours; his final 55 runs coming off only 20 balls.
Their 92 run partnership off the final 10 overs was exactly what was required, and as the former gloveman raised his bat to bring up three figures, to the delight of the Chipstead players, a decent total of 233-6 was secured.
Steve Hirst urged his players not to be complacent against a useful Dorking side, and the team was determined not to let him down. Wickets starting falling immediately and Ben Overton (45) was the only batsman to dig in and indeed the only man in the top seven to reach double figures.
Leigh Padfield (2-14) bowled with some real pace with the new ball, and bowled Dorking danger man Andy Holmewood with a terrific quicker delivery.
Richard Brewster (2-24) bowled tightly in the middle section but it was Mike Bradley (2-12) who finally took the game away from the hosts, bowling a hostile spell and splaying the stumps of the defiant Overton.
All the bowlers picked up two wickets each in an excellent all-round bowling display, Woods (2-11) claiming the final two wickets, including an excellent stumping from the new keeper, fashion designer Ryan Birkbeck. Dorking were all out for 116, a 117 run victory and a 10-point win for the away side.
Skipper Steve Hirst was pleased but refused to get carried away.
He said: "I thought we played great cricket today, and I was especially happy with Daryl's ton.
"We looked a bit behind at one point, but the final partnership was vital. All the bowlers worked well together, and the two young lads were terrific: Padfield is a great talent, and Bradley showed some real fight.
"But we know we've got to work hard this year, and we've got a massive test next week against Thames Ditton and Richie Richardson."
