Horley kept in check
Fullers League Division One
Horley 132-9 Kempton 134-6
Horley fell to a disappointing four wicket defeat at home to Kempton.
A determined opposition who bowled and fielded superbly kept Horley in check throughout the hosts' 52 over innings.
Two wickets fell in the fifth over bowled by Mason (2-34) which brought Phil Norman (26) and Horley skipper Ed Long (21) to the wicket. Whilst this pair added 40 for the third wicket, 15 further overs had been bowled.
First change bowler Osborne (5-35) set a defensive field and the pressure built on the home side to get quick runs. Stuart MacPherson (16), Chris Allen (13) and latterly keeper Chris Roberts (32 no) were the only other Horley batsmen to show any real form.
In their reply Kempton also found runs hard to come by as Jonathan Barnett (4-34) ripped through the top order. However a sixth wicket partnership of 53 enabled the visitors to creep slowly towards victory.
Loveridge (43) played a useful but fortunate role for Kempton as Blair (24) and keeper Widdrington (21 no) gave assistance.
Manjet Rajput and Stuart MacPherson were Horley's other wicket takers before the winning boundary was hit to see Kempton home with 2.3 overs remaining.
HORLEY'S second XI got back on the chase for honours after last week's blip with a convincing six wicket success at Wallington.
The hosts posted a reasonable total of 231-5 with Mason and Letts both scoring half centuries. Nash (37) and Majeed (34) also recorded decent scores for the home side as Deepal Ahangama (3-44) bowled a useful 15 over spell. Horley's other wicket takers were Harry Williams and skipper Matt Lee.
Horley gave chase and while an early wicket temporarily halted the visitors the experienced heads of Paul Kirkham (81) and Jonathan Dibble (53) shone through.
Dave Hyde (26 no) and Harry Williams (16 no) continued the momentum as Horley ran out six wicket winners with eight balls to spare.
HORLEY Sunday Trust League side beat Purley by eight runs.
