Hundreds go without power in freezing temperatures
A fallen tree caused hundreds of homes to lose power in plummeting temperatures.
Yesterday 359 households in the Abinger and Wotton area lost electricity at 7.05am when a fallen tree brought down an overhead power line in the heavy snow.
Some residents have now had their energy restored but 122 households in the Sutton Lane area of Abinger Common are still out in the cold.
EDF Energy Networks engineers remain on site working to restore supplies.
A spokeswoman from EDF said: "Engineers managed to restore supplies to 214 customers by 12.43pm yesterday, a further 29 were reconnected at 10.43am this morning and further work is continuing on site at the moment to reconnect the remaining supplies as swiftly as is safely possible.
"We do understand how difficult it is being without electricity, particularly in such cold weather and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused."

“Well done to the EDF crews who worked in very challenging circumstances.”
