An appeal has today been launched to try and find a toddler who may need medical attention.

Surrey Police launched the appeal after an unidentified woman brought the two-year-old girl into East Surrey Hospital yesterday (April 29) at 10.20am.

The pair were seen by nurses in the triage department, but during a preliminary assessment of the child's health the woman told staff she was taking the girl to use the toilet - they did not return.

Concerns are now being raised that the girl may require medical attention and is not receiving it.

Today (Friday, April 30) police have released CCTV images of the pair to help identify them.

Detective Constable David Fair, of Surrey Police's Public Protection Team, said: "We need the public's help to find out who this child is so we can check she is safe and receiving any medical care she may need.

"If you recognise this girl or the woman she was with then please contact us. If you were in the vicinity of East Surrey Hospital yesterday morning and saw them you may also have information which could help us. I am also appealing directly to the woman in the images to get in touch so we know the girl is well and being cared for."

Anyone with information should contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference number RB/10/3940
