Combined Counties League Premier Division

Camberley Town 2

Horley Town 1

SEVERE injury problems meant Horley Town were forced to field an under-strength side at second placed Camberley, but the remaining players soldiered on, only losing by a single goal.

Horley were missing eight players, and without any recognised strikers available centre back Danny Guscott led the attack.

However manager Ali Rennie was pleased with the performance.

"I was disappointed not to get something out of the game; I think we deserved a point," he said.

"We played well against a team second in the league, so I was pleased with the performance. We seem to always have players out at the moment. If we had gone there with Adam Pullen and Jamie Risebrow then maybe it would have been different."

Next up for Horley are Chertsey Town on Saturday, followed on Tuesday by the second of three games against Bedfont in 16 days.

Rennie admits that while they are by no means finished in the league, and the Challenge Cup semi-final next Tuesday is a priority.

"It will be interesting because we don't want Bedfont to know too much about us before the semi-final," he said.

"We need to get some more points in the league, but the cup is our only chance of winning anything this season."

Guscott caused a lot of problems in the air for the Camberley defence.

As the half progressed both sides played some neat football but neither side carved out any clear chances.

Manny Djornor, making his debut in goal for Horley, dealt very well with some half chances from distance.

On 36 minutes Camberley created some space on the right and Green was allowed to cross for Sills to rise unchallenged and head the opener.

Horley pressed right from the start of the second half and were rewarded almost immediately. A fine ball in from the right by Harry Williams was met by a powerful header by Lee Butcher to bring the scores level.

On 65 minutes a free-kick by substitute Luke Ragetti for Horley was met with a glancing header from Anthony Jupp but it just slipped narrowly past the post.

A cross to the back post was met by Camberley's Sills, his header back across was miss hit by Muir some 18 yards from goal. The shot looped up and over Djornor to give Camberley the lead.

Camberley held on to keep themselves in second place in the table. Horley can count themselves a bit unlucky not to have taken something from a very even contest.

Horley: Djornor, Mills, Medhurst, A Jupp, Bryant, Herdman, Williams (Ragetti), Butcher, Eldred (Brown-Ford), O'Sullivan, (Sebuliba) Guscott.
