CELEBRITY supermodel Katie Price has been convicted of speeding in Whyteleafe.

But when her case came before magistrates on Thursday, the former Woldingham resident declined to reveal the amount of her wealth, which would have been used to decide the level of her fine.

Miss Price, 33, was caught by a speed camera in Godstone Road, as she drove her pink Land Rover with its personalised plates KP11 LEO.

She was driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone on November 5 last year, Redhill Magistrates' Court was told.

But the defendant avoided the glare of the media spotlight, choosing instead to enter a guilty plea by letter.

Referring to the letter, court clerk David Smillie said Miss Price's solicitors had stated that she tried to fill in a means form – a document which every defendant is asked to complete so their income and outgoings can be assessed – but had been unable to complete it.

Mr Smillie added: "The solicitors say her business and finances are managed by advisors.

"They say their client is subject to considerable media attention and wishes to declare this information confidentially.

"She means no disrespect to the court."

The court clerk responded that it was an "open court" and all defendants were expected to complete a means form – which lists everything from the amount a defendant spends monthly on electricity and telephone calls, to whether a TV licence has been paid for. Magistrates fined Miss Price £135, and ordered her to pay £85 prosecution costs, with a further £15 as a victims' surcharge.

She also had three penalty points put on her licence.

They were told Miss Price already had three penalty points for a previous speeding offence last year, for which she was fined £117.

In May 2008, the glamour model moved with her three children and husband, the singer Peter Andre, into a £2.5 million, seven-bedroom mansion – described locally as a "Disney-style castle" – on Woldingham's exclusive Lunghurst Road.

But the couple later divorced, and Miss Price has since moved into her current home in Dial Post, a small village near Horsham in West Sussex.
