Redhill Olympic torchbearer Claire Gunney speaks of honour of carrying flame
CLAIRE Gunney is carrying the Olympic flame through Redhill for her dedication to her sport and overcoming personal challenges.
The 30-year-old Surrey Police staff officer was ranked second in the world last year for marathon kayaking.

But several years ago, while driving, she was hit head-on by a speeding car leaving her with terrible injuries.
Then, she developed chronic fatigue syndrome and was left not only unable to kayak but unable to carry out simple tasks like lifting a knife and fork.

Claire's father-in-law Brian Gunney, who nominated her for the torch-bearing honour, said: "With the chronic fatigue she kept it so quiet we hardly knew there was anything wrong, she was really good at burying these things."
He added: "Her dedication to what she does and her drive, she's someone I could really admire. Her sport isn't in the Olympics so I thought this would be a good way for her to take part."
Claire, who is based at Surrey Police's headquarters at Mount Browne, said: "I'm really excited and very grateful to have been nominated and chosen for this honour."
