In a change of roles, Redhill manager Marcus Alcindor turned his hand to writing the match report.

THE day before, Leatherhead played in a cup final, beating Dartford, so congratulations to Mick Sullivan and the boys. On the same evening Redhill were convincing beaten 5-0 by a well organised Walton & Hersham (hands off John Difford!).

Seckington received a welcome far warmer than I have received from the players, yet left the changing room a lot quicker.

Redhill started the brighter, with good interplay between Darrell Ditchburn and Badar Mohammed seeing a Andrew Dalhouse shot go just wide. Leatherhead's Jamal Carr became a threat on the right wing giving Tashan Nicholas plenty to do.

Then came the Josh Bonnett show; covering the entire midfield and getting into damaging forward positions, Bonnett gave a masterclass.

On half an hour a mazy run from Charles Ofusuhene was saved, and the follow ups from Mohammed, Dalhouse and debutant Billy McKay were also blocked. Leatherhead had chances too, with keeper Chris May tipping a Carr shot over the bar.

Confidence overtook Redhill just before the break when they let Leatherhead waltz into the penalty area, which left Nicholas having to make a last ditch challenge.

This appeared to be a clean tackle to all but the referee, and a penalty was awarded. The Leatherhead number 11 calmly slotted to May's right, sending the captain the wrong way.

Moments after this a good ball by the Redhill graduate Christian Howell, into the feet of Dalhouse, saw a smart turn but the shot was saved comfortably.

The second half was full of changes, with May giving way to youth team keeper Andy Greaves, Howell for Ronnie Basara, McKay for Difford, who also took the captain's armband into midfield, and Ofusuhene for assistant manager Scott Ellis.

However in the second minute it was all change again as defender Charlie Stagg cleared with a strong header but landed on the small of his back, which forced him off the field.

There is not a lot I can comment on this substitution other than 'inspired'! - Nytram Dixon-Baker was moved to defence and first team goalkeeper May was put on as a striker (even with the veteran striker yours truly on the bench and kitted up).

Ten minutes of Leatherhead dominance followed along with a lot of "what are you doing" by an unnamed novice reporter.

Ellis began to settle things down, helping Redhill maintain possession before a slide rule pass put Bonnett through his shot was saved low down by the keeper and the follow-up from Dalhouse looped just over the bar

And then it happened. An unbelievable run from Bonnett saw four Leatherhead players seated, and the ball was chipped into the box for the awaiting May to smash into the back of the net.

May, Sussex County's most sort-after keeper, then turned to strut back to the centre circle as only a keeper can.

Further changes followed as Dixon-Baker picked up a twisted ankle and was replaced by Ali Keyzu, followed by the removal of Nicholas and Ditchburn for Alcindor and McKay.

The remainder of the game slowed to that of an exhibition match. An undefeated record for Miss Seckington, who is welcome anytime.
