Leatherhead make successful comeback
LEATHERHEAD Swimming Club won the first round of the Rother League competition at Basingstoke and fought off competition from Winchester, Chichester, Romsey & Totton and Andover swimming clubs.
Leatherhead's swimmers competed in relays and individual events and won overall by 50 points.
James Winson, 14, successfully swam above his age group and helped give his team the edge.
For many of the club's younger swimmers it was their first competitive event and they swam exceptionally well.

Wilks also made sixth place in the 200m freestyle. Team-mate Cameron Doig, 14, achieved a fantastic personal best at the championships of 1.08.98 in the 100m backstroke.
Wilks and Doig will go on to compete in the closing weekend of the championships after the Jubilee celebrations.
Head coach David Vine said: "I am really pleased with the fantastic results from the club this weekend.
"We have re-entered the Rother league this year after many years out of it and to come straight back in with a win is great."
