Liam defies disease to lead M25 fundraiser
MORE than 20 motorcyclists completed a lap of the M25 to raise awareness of motor neurone disease on Sunday.
The "Circle of Life" event was organised by Liam Dwyer, who was diagnosed with the illness five years ago and told he had 18 months to live.
The motorcyclists, who wore orange tabards bearing the Motor Neurone Disease Association logo, set off from three different M25 junctions to complete a full 117-mile circuit.
Mr Dwyer, of Horley, was a keen motorcyclist before being diagnosed with the disease, which kills five people every day in the UK alone.
He said: "One of the great things was being able to take part in the event myself on the back of a friend's trike, something I thought I would never be able to do again."
Branch Chairman Simon Edmands watched the motorcyclists from a footbridge near Junction 8.
He said: "It was great to see the MND bikers and cheer them on as they passed underneath us.
"I really hope Liam will repeat this event next year, when I'm sure we can get quite a few more people involved."
