IT is two draws out of two for new boss Mick Buckingham as Lingfield ground out a draw against promotion-hopefuls Redhill.

Lingfield never looked at the races and Redhill dominated the attacking play, despite being unable to find the back of the net.

However, Buckingham, whose first game in charge was a 1-1 draw at Eastbourne last Saturday, admits he is happy with the result.

"We got pinned back in the second half and didn't get as many chances as I would like, but I think the boys did well," he said.

"Like Eastbourne, Redhill are a good side and a draw is a better result for us than it is for them."

Lingfield, who are 13th in the league, face Seaford Town on Saturday in the Charity Cup third round, and Buckingham admits the cup is increasingly important.

"I think the league has already been won by the top teams, so the cup would be fantastic," he said.

"Sometimes if the league is out of your touch then a cup run keeps everyone focused and together."

Despite a lively start by both teams the best chance went to Redhill's Daniel Morris after a Calvin Headley corner was cleared to the striker. Morris's shot was well dealt with by the home defence.

On 21 minutes Simon Wallace got Lingfield's first real chance of the game, but his weak shot was easily gathered by keeper Phil Sellek.

On 37 minutes Lingfield might have gone ahead after a free-kick took a rebound towards goal, but referee Colin Mallows ruled the ball hadn't crossed the line.

From the clearance, Josh Bonnett broke down the right, but good defending by Brett Lovett meant he was unable to get a shot away.

In the second half, Lingfield were restricted to a single chance for Wallace, while Redhill's Bonnett had several chances but could not score. The visitors' chances included an Asher Hudson thunderbolt that pinged the bar and a misdirected Kyle Morgan header, but Lingfield held out.
