Reigate Priory director of cricket John Bramhall says qualifying his side to the national finals day of the Club Twenty20 would be the perfect leaving present for departing skipper Ian Hewett.

The Llamas face Henley on Thames at Park Lane on Sunday afternoon, knowing victory will see them through to the last four of the Cockspur Rum competition for the first time in their history.

And Bramhall, says victory will go some way to easing Hewett's pain at missing out on the Surrey Championship title before he returns to Australia.

He said: "To win this would defiantly be a huge consolation prize. Sutton deserved to win the title as they got more points than us, but we played them three times this season and beat them on every occasion.

"We just drew too many games in the middle of the season and that cost us our chance of winning the title again."

Hewett, who has played at the Llamas for the the past three seasons, flys out of the country next week and Bramhall thinks it is appropriate his final outing should be such a showpiece occasion.

"He has been a sensational overseas player for us," he added. "He is a very special individual and a huge credit to Victorian cricket. He has led the attack for us this season and also led the side superbly.

"If you look back at the three years he has been with us he has been fabulous to have around and we will miss him hugely."

Priory qualified for this stage by winning the Surrey arm of the competition, and then beating the champions of Essex, Middlesex and Kent at Billericay Cricket Club last month.

And Bramhall hopes there will be a carnival atmosphere at the club, as the Llamas are just three games away from an all expenses paid trip to Barbados.

"We know it will be a big crowd and we want lots of local people to come out and support us. To be honest we don't know too much about Henley but obviously they must be a strong side to have got this far.

"That said, we believe if we play to our best we will go through."

Priory have won the Surrey Championship premier division title three out of the past five years, finishing runners-up on the two other occasions, and now have an amazing opportunity for national recognition.

The winners on Sunday will go on to a four-way play-off at Derbyshire CC later this month, which will be televised on Sky. The overall winners of that earn themselves an all expenses paid trip to Barbados to represent England in a Pro Am Twenty20 event.

More than 500 sides entered this competition.

The Llamas expect a the majority of their squad to be available for the game - which starts at 2pm, with Surrey youngsters Jason Roy, Simon King and Chris Murtagh all expected to play.

"The only question mark is over Simon King, as he may get called up for Surrey's Pro-40 game that day," said Bramhall.

"What has made this such a special cup run is that so many of our members have represented us in this competition at some stage.

"It hasn't been the case that our first team have turned out in every game. Even in the last round, we only had five first teamers available after Surrey called up five of the team for a second XI net session.

"But this time we expect to have our very best side out and are looking forward to it tremendously."
