Lottery luck store's big winning streak
WHEN it comes to hitting the lottery jackpot, it seems a Dorking newsagent is the place to be.
This week it was announced that yet another winner had bought their ticket from Bradshaw's Newsagent, this time scooping more than £250,000.
This big win follows Dorking-resident George Sturt's multimillion-pound jackpot on the Euromillions in January. The taxi driver pocketed around £26.1 million, becoming Britain's fourth biggest lottery winner.
Mahesh Amin, from Bradshaw's, received a letter on Monday informing him that the ticket, which was sold around three months ago, had won more than £250,000.
He said: "I'm very happy for the winner. I don't know if they are local or if they were passing through the town but whoever they are, good luck to them.
"Hopefully more people will come and buy tickets here now we're seen as being lucky with a few big jackpot wins."
The shop is now recognised as being a 'Lucky Shop' by National Lottery operators Camelot, and has posters in its windows informing passers-by of their lucky streak.
Plenty of people have got lucky after buying a ticket at the South Street newsagents.
A Dorking resident pocketed £300 last Friday, while Kevin Tyler, from Sutton, won £1,370 a couple of month ago thanks to five balls on the main draw.
Mr Tyler, 44, who has been buying tickets from Bradshaw's for the past two years, said: "The last number I needed was 48 and it came out as 49.
"It's got to be the luckiest shop in Dorking because I've been doing the lottery for 20 years and this is the first big win I've had."
Mr Amin is delighted to have seen so many winners, but he said: "It's a bit frustrating seeing all these winners when the most I've won is £10."
The most recent jackpot winners want to remain anonymous.
