FAMILY and friends have paid tribute to a mother of one who died in a car accident on Friday.

Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of the accident on the Mickleham Bypass and those close to Ella Shuttleworth came to Goodwyns estate on Saturday to release floating lanterns in her memory.

Tributes have come in from all over Dorking to a much-loved mother, wife, sister and friend who was killed when her black Mini collided with a silver Vauxhall Astra, whose driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Ella's mother, Phillippa Francis, 46, said: "She was so gregarious and outgoing. She was one of those people who would walk into a room and you would just know she was there."

Last year 24-year-old Ella had married husband Neil, 36, and the couple had their first baby, Edward, in February.

Her mother said one of the people most affected by Ella's death is her sister Victoria Bartlett, 26, who has a two-year-old daughter, Leila.

Mrs Francis said: "Victoria is really struggling. She is absolutely devastated because she's lost her best friend and her sister in one go. Because it was only the three of us for years they were so close. They didn't go a day without speaking to each other."

Stepfather, Graeme Francis, 52, said: "She did everything for Victoria, she was the one that organised everything and at home, she just made things happen."

He added: "She was just concentrating on bringing up Edward and her niece Leila who she absolutely adored. They were so looking forward to spending time with their kids together."

Former Ashcombe schoolgirl Ella, of Bradley Lane, had lived in Dorking her whole life and her many friends in the town had fond memories of her.

Juliette Smith, who worked at Jax sandwich shop in South Street with Ella for two years, said: "She was very popular, everyone knew her. She was one of those people who once you met her you didn't forget. She was always really positive and she had so much to look forward to."

Bella Gonzalez, who worked with Ella at Pizza Express in the High Street said: "She was a crazy girl, but crazy in a good way. The last time I saw her was about two weeks ago and she said she had everything that she wanted from life.

"They were so happy and you could tell they cared for each other so much."

Ms Gonzalez, who suffered a similar family tragedy five years ago had a message of hope for Ella's family.

She said: "To the family I would say no-one will know how they feel but with time things will get better. I will pray for all of them."

Ella and Neil started dating in February last year after they met at a Christmas party.

Jenni Wyatt, of Redhill, who works with Neil, said: "It was a privilege to know her."

Sarah Norman, who had lived next door to Ella for the last 10 years said she had watched her grow up from a teenager.

She said: "She was a brilliant person, a fantastic mum, wife and sister. She was just too young, it's ridiculous. She was fantastic and to be gone at 24, with a little boy and a husband, it just doesn't happen to people close to you."

She added: "I got to know her and her sister as they grew up and they both grew up to be fantastic ladies."

Ella's funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 31 and friends are asked to donate to the Oceanic Preservation Society, a charity close to her heart, rather than buying flowers.
