Man arrested over Guildford sexual assault allegation

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with an allegation of a serious sexual assault on a young woman in Guildford last week.

A 29-year-old man, from Godalming, is on bail until July 11, whilst detectives continue to investigate the reported incident involving a 24-year-old woman on Thursday evening (May 24).

The woman was in High Street at 11pm when she was approached by a man who offered her a lift in a car.

Neighbourhood commander chief inspector Matt Goodridge said: "We are confident that there is no-one outstanding that we need to interview as a result of our enquiries to date. The community should be re-assured that Guildford remains a safe place to live, work and visit.
