SUPPORT: Celebrity gardener Matt James.
Gardener Matt James, star of Channel 4's City Gardener, who studied at Merrist Wood Horticultural College in Guildford, said: "Making compost at home costs nothing, so save a packet and get your plants and veggies off to the best-possible start.
"There's no easier way to up your green credentials, either."
Jean Pearson, Chairman of Surrey Waste Partnership, said: "The cost of sending rubbish to landfill is rising so we need to find alternative ways to dispose of our waste.
"Composting is one thing all of us can do to reduce the amount we throw out. It's easy to do, so I would urge people to buy one of our discount bins and have a go."
