Combined Counties League Division One

Farleigh Rovers 2 Mole Valley SCR 1

A DISMAL first half performance condemned division one leaders Mole Valley SCR to an unexpected defeat at Farleigh Rovers.

Darren Salmon's side were two down at the break and despite an improvement after the interval they couldn't drag themselves back into the game.

The loss was worsened by news that virtually all the chasing pack collected maximum points.

However, SCR's lead at the top remains six points and Salmon was keen to point out that their rivals still had it all to do.

"It's still in our hands which is main thing," he said. "Sometimes in life, and football, you get what you put into it and we didn't really deserve to get anything from the match.

"We just didn't turn up in the first half and we could have been more behind at the break.

"We got better in the second half and very nearly came away with a draw but it wasn't to be in the end."

Farleigh went ahead on the 22nd minute through Lares and the striker doubled his side's advantage just before the interval.

Mole Valley's deadly striker Jay Holden pulled his side back into contention on 52 minutes but despite several chances Rovers held on for the win.

Mole Valley will look to get their title challenge back on track on Saturday when they travel to Frimley Green.
