Mole Valley do all they can
MOLE Valley ended their CCL Division One campaign with a 3-1 win over Knaphill on Tuesday evening.
The result keeps Darren Salmon's side in with a slim chance of clinging on to a top three spot that would secure promotion to the Premier Division next season.
SCR have finished on 70 points with a positive goal difference of 32, meaning that fourth placed Dorking, who are on 67 points with a goal difference of 30, have to win their final game of the season at Farleigh Rovers on Monday by three goals or more to go past their local rivals. Both Dorking and SCR must then hope that neither Knaphill or Worcester Park get sufficient points from their remaining games to go past them into the top three.
An own goal and a fine finish from Dave Hartnoll gave Mole Valley a two goal lead at half-time at Knaphill. The hosts pulled a goal back before Matt Kilty secured all three points for the visitors.
Even if SCR are eventually overhauled for a top three finish, it has been a fine first campaign in the Combined Counties League and they can cap a good season with a win in the Lemon Recordings Division One Challenge Cup Final against Staines Lammas at Ashford Town (Middlesex) next Monday - kick-off 3pm.
