Morrisons withdraws plan for Dorking store
MORRISONS has withdrawn its plan to build a new supermarket in Dorking, the Advertiser can reveal.
The company was refused permission for a 3,100 sq m store in Curtis Road in October last year, on the grounds that it would be too far out of the town centre.
This week a spokesman for Trilogy Developments confirmed it will not appeal against the decision.
Justin Fairley, who led a campaign opposing the proposed store, welcomed the news.

"I figured that they would not appeal," he said. "It would have been pointless them doing so because they would just had been wasting more of their money and everyone else's time. They knew they had no chance."
Mr Fairley, who lives in Curtis Road, says the campaign had a big effect on the eventual outcome.
"I think it really went a long way," he said. "I really think it had a big impact."
