New team at Big Field
THE Big Field in Brockham will play host to a new team next season.
Dorking Rugby Club will be the new home of Kent side Old Tonbridgians after the Red & Whites agreed to a groundshare.
In a strange move, the RFU have agreed to allow the Kent outfit to compete in the Surrey League next season, and Tonbridgians have come to an agreement with Dorking to use the Big Field for their home games.
Old Tonbridgians secretary Freddie Russell-Flint said: "It's an old schoolboys team from Tonbridge School and it's easier to play in the Surrey leagues because most of the lads live in West London, Surrey and Sussex.
"We only started in the Kent leagues last year and were unbeaten, so I think next season will be a step up, but we're looking forward to it, we can't wait."
Old Tonbridgians will join Surrey Three for the start of the new season and their 10 games at the Big Field will bring some extra revenue into Dorking.
Dorking's commercial director Roger Parkin said: "They will pay us a modest rent for the pitch and the money they put behind the bar will help too. It will obviously bring an extra bit of traffic in to the club and it's nice to meet new faces too.
"It's not transformational, we don't want to frighten the locals into thinking we have hundreds of games extra going on, it's just a nice addition for us and we are pleased to be able to host them and have a few new faces around the ground."
