O's second string complete great escape with win
Surrey Championship
2nd XI Division Five
Oxted & Limpsfield II 233
Old Paulines II 138
OXTED & Limpsfield completed their great escape from relegation and continued their fine run of form into the last game of the season. Knowing only a win would guarantee them safety the O's opted to bat first on what looked a good wicket at Master Park.
They got off to a good start but after two quick wickets found themselves at 53-2 in the 13th over.
Nadeem Durrany and Michael Adamson put on 106 for the third wicket before Durrany was out for a fine 78. Andrew Davis joined Adamson and he hit a quick fire 28 before he fell and Adamson was next out for 58 but he O's were pleased with 233.
Oxted seemed quiet in the field initially but when Earl removed the first opener lbw the team were lifted and the O's upped their game. Two wickets in two balls, one each for Earl (2-20) and Will Singleton, both caught by Stuart Fletcher turned the game.
Old Paulines did then move to 65 before the next wicket fell but once again it was two without the score moving as first Nick Emmins, then Alan Dennison struck.
Another 26 were added before Dennison (2-13) struck again to leave Old Paulines 91-6.
After a few more low scoring overs Jonny Mastin and Adamson were brought into the attack and within six overs the game was over.
