Olivia sets sights on music career
A TEEN whose all-singing, all-dancing group reached the final stages of a TV talent show is looking to pursue a music career.
Olivia Treliving, 17, from Bookham, was one of the 20-strong group called The Songtimers, who reached the final of Channel 5's Don't Stop Believing.
The final of the show, which was inspired by hit comedy series Glee, aired at the end of last month. In it, the final six groups battle it out to secure their place as favourite.
For the final, the group, who all attend the Leatherhead-based Songtime Theatre Arts, performed their own version of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' Empire State Of Mind with jazz dancing influenced by the musical Chicago.
Although they didn't win the competition, Olivia said she was thrilled at the chance to perform on national television, in front of a live audience.
"We were all so happy because, at the end of the day, we had such a great experience.
"We were not disappointed we didn't win because we were so happy to come so far and that we had won in one of our weeks. Overall, I thought it was brilliant, a really good experience."
Because many of the older members of the group are going to drama school, Olivia says they are unlikely to perform as a 20-piece again, although they may reunite in the summer holidays.
Olivia herself now has plans to launch a pop career, using the vital performing experience she gained from appearing on the show: "I think in the future I want to go solo although I will always have The Songtimers as well. I don't know if I'll do reality TV again but definitely want to try to get an album out."
