A MUM took a massive, if rather hot, step towards helping her little boy walk.

Natalie Koritsas and 16 others put mind over matter to walk over hot coals at The Bell in Outwood on Friday, as part of fundraising for an operation in America for her three-year-old son, Vigo.

The night raised £7,000 towards her £70,000 target.

"It was so good, we had the most amazing night," said Ms Koritsas, from Outwood. "About 300 people turned up, the pub was absolutely bursting.

"The fire walk was hot, but your adrenalin is pumping. I didn't even think about it; I was so overwhelmed by the amount of people there, and I just kept thinking about doing it for Vigo."

Vigo has cerebral palsy and the procedure, performed at St Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri, will help his mobility, and could allow him to walk unaided.

Other donations have also been pouring into the fund since the Mirror featured Vigo's appeal.

Ms Koritsas was stunned when, among others, South Nutfield based recruitment agency CBSbutler donated £5,000.
