Oxted lose in five goal thriller
Surrey Elite League
Oxted & District 2
Elm Grove 3
Oxted's first home fixture in the Surrey Elite League ended in a disappointing defeat in a five goal thriller at Master Park.
Oxted had the better of a goalless first half but failed to take their chances as they failed to turn possession into goals.
The second half was a different affair. Oxted took the lead with a Tim Digby piledriver from 30 yards in the 50th minute, but their advantage was short lived as Elm Grove soon drew level with a neat free-kick.
The Os again went in front with an Ian Pearce header and at this point looked favourites to win, but three good chances were wasted and it was Elm Grove who equalised again with a hotly disputed goal.
With time running out it was the visitors who forced home the winning goal as Oxted tired in the closing stages.
A highly entertaining game that the Os should of won but ended up rueing missed chances.
