Oxted seconds held to draw
Surrey Championship Division Five
Oxted & Limpsfield II 186
Kempton II 147-6
BATTING first Oxted's Nadeem Durrany got them off to a great start hitting anything loose as he raced to 51 out of a total of 57 in the 12th over.
Durrany was eventually caught for 59 as Oxted lost their second wicket with the score on 75.
Joe Kourea and Richard Dalziel then did a solid job of rebuilding and scored 34 and 38 respectively as they took the score to 150. Unfortunately the rest of the middle order didn't fire but 16 via two sixes and a four from Alex Watson ensured Oxted posted a competitive 186 as they were dismissed in 52 overs.
Steve Crossley was the star for the home side as he recorded figures of 8-59.
Oxted had a new look opening pair in Watson and Will Singleton and the pace attack provided instant results as both struck to leave Kempton 21-2.
The home side then rebuilt with the skipper and his son batting sensibly in the face of some good quick bowling. Oxted eventually struck again in the 22nd over when Singleton removed the skipper and this was quickly followed by two more wickets, another one for Singleton and one for Michael Adamson, to leave the home side 73-5 off 28 overs.
Oxted now knew they had 20 overs to take the remaining five wickets and secure a much needed win that their display perhaps deserved.
However despite rotating the bowling and offering Kempton a way back into the game they could only manage one more wicket, another for Singleton, as Kempton finished on 147-6 from their 48 overs.
Singleton finished with excellent figures of 4-42 from 17 overs after a fine display of quick bowling.
