Play Lotty's War at Epsom Playhouse
The national tour of Lotty's War marks 70 years since the start of the occupation of the Channel Islands.
Set during the time of this historic period of the Second World War, it tells the story of a young Guernsey girl thrust into the dilemmas of the German occupation of the Channel Islands.
Striving to be loyal to her friends and family, Lotty is forced to succumb to the requirements of an occupying force, particularly those of the general billeted with her. The play explores the boundaries of collaboration, loyalty and patriotism.
Lotty's War is based on unpublished diaries written during the occupation. They were discovered in the vault of the Guille Alles Library and writer Giuliano Crispini spent 18 months picking through them and developing the piece.
