Dangerous: This man was pulled up Zig Zag Road in Box Hill in treacherous conditions Photo No: RSMD4061-28
Box Hill was a popular spot for people wanting to go sledding and enjoy the breathtaking wintry views.
However, one thrill-seeker has been criticised for going too far to get his adrenaline fix. The man, kneeling on a car bonnet, was pulled up an icy Zig Zag Road, in Box Hill, by a Land Rover to the car park close to the viewpoint last Friday afternoon.
John Tadman, the neighbourhood inspector for Mole Valley, was not impressed by the stunt.
He said: "It would only have taken someone to come the other way down the hill and not being able to stop for something serious to have happened.
"It's not something we would condone and there are other ways of getting your excitement without endangering the lives of other people.
"We don't want to stop people having fun but not when it risks other people's safety."
Brett Wainwright, of Boxhill Road, said Zig Zag Road had been closed this week because of the conditions.
"There has been quite a bit of snow up here and I know Zig Zag Road has been really icy," he said.
"When the conditions are like this, it is a nightmare to try and get up and down the road without slipping all over the place.
"It's pretty crazy that someone has been pulled up the road on a car bonnet."
A National Trust spokeswoman said the road was closed on Sunday evening because it was "too slippery".
She added: "We are constantly monitoring the situation and will re-open the road when it is safe to do so."
Meanwhile, a car was crushed in Headley when last week's heavy snow caused a tree to topple.
The incident happened just after midnight last Friday morning in Headley Common Road.
A team from Leatherhead Fire Station attended the scene to help cut back some of the branches which were blocking the entrance to a property.
Firefighter Stuart Puttock was on the scene. He said: "It was quite a big tree that had fallen due to the weight of the snow. The trunk of the tree had crushed a car and that was totally written off. That was the main damage that was caused, there were no injuries and no large damage to the house.
"What we did was cut some of the tree away so they could gain access to their gate."
