Pre-season kick-off looms for teams
PRE-SEASON gets underway in earnest next week as Dorking Wanderers take on Leatherhead at West Humble.
Wanderers, who will be sporting a new kit, sponsored by local company Ambient Electrical, who have agreed a "five-figure" deal over three years, will welcome Mick Sullivan's Isthmian League Cup winning side to London Road on Tuesday, July 13.
It will be the first outing for both sides as they gear up for the 2010-11 season that they both hope will end in promotion.
Wanderers manager Marc White is looking forward to testing himself against the Ryman League side.
He said: "This is about putting ourselves up against better opposition and fitness. For us this year it's all about fitness. We need to play against higher opposition. We know we can compete with the best, we have got the players in the squad, it's only the fitness that lets us down and putting ourselves up against these teams is good for us."
Sullivan sees the game as ideal for giving new players a run out.
He said: "It's a good early game that gives me the chance to take quite a large squad and give a fair few a game. I need these early games to get a look at the new boys. I'll likely field two sides in each half. It might be disjointed, but it's a good fitness test for us, because they are a progressive side that deserve to be playing higher up.
"There are a few quality players training with us and this will be a good game to trial them in so I can see if they are better than what I've already got."
The match kicks off at 7.15pm.
