Three Bridges 0

Redhill 2

REDHILL made hard work of beating Three Bridges in a game that was tighter than the scoreline suggested.

In the opening stages Bridges carved out the most chances, but their scoring boots must have been left in the dressing room.

Redhill came on the attack a handful of times with chances from Calvin Headley, Charles Ofusuhene and Josh Bonnet.

Bridges had great chances in the first half with one effort hitting the bar after a scramble in the box, then Jon Hogg had to rescue the Reds with a goal-line clearance. Chris May was also called on to make a close-range save.

Redhill finally took the lead on 38 minutes when Bonnet played a clever ball over the top to Daniel Morris, who nodded it into the path of new boy Kyle Morgan to power the ball past Mark Fox.

Bridges very nearly equalled shortly after when George Hillier attempted a long range effort after seeing May off his line.

Bridges had plentiful chances in the second half, but May had an excellent game and the defence worked their socks off.

Redhill missed a couple of sitters, the first after some great individual play by Morris who found Bonnet, but his shot was well saved and moments later, another opportunity arrived for Bonnet, but he opted to pass to Morris in the middle.

It was slightly behind him, but the striker will be kicking himself after his strike was cleared off the line. Asher Hudson quick skill knocking down two Bridges defenders for six, he then centred for Headley, but his shot went wide.

Redhill's defending then became desperate as Bridges piled on the pressure. Again, some excellent defending by Hogg and Charlie Stagg kept them at bay, and May pulled off another couple of cracking saves.

One point-blank save was cleared into the path of Morris, who was all alone at the top of his half.

He took the ball on and ran towards goal but shot a tad too early and the ball sailed over the bar.

Redhill wrapped up the points three minutes into injury time when Morris found substitute Marcus Elliot in the middle, and he side footed the ball into the net.
