ONE of the directors of Redstone FM is now working for the BBC.

Johny Cassidy, 38, told the Mirror his involvement with the station had kick-started his broadcasting career.

He told the Mirror: "I was registered blind 20 years ago following an injury.

"I went to the RNIB College about five years ago and met Des Shepherd who was running a course on radio production.

"When I left the course, I started a post-grad in broadcast journalism.

"Then got a job with the BBC where I have been for the last three years.

"Des has such a professional approach and he helps to open doors into broadcasting.

"I'm a business and economics journalist so I work on the Today Program, Five Live, and Breakfast TV."
